Each profession has a set code of conduct that reflects the ethics of the field. Sexology is no different. In this course you’ll learn what organizational bodies set the standards for clinical sexology. You’ll also learn about some of the ethical concerns that can present in a clinical sexology setting and how to address them.

You’ll also have the opportunity to determine your own standards for your practice based on existing models in the field. This in-depth course will examine the special relationship that you will have with your clients and therefore the special standards of care you will need to uphold.

At the end of this course you will have clarity of what can and cannot be done as a sexologist and you will also have a firm understanding of the various ethical standards that guide clinical sexological work.

Your Instructor, Dr. Neil Cannon
 
 

Dr. Neil Cannon is a Certified Sex Therapist and Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist. He is also a teacher at the graduate and post-graduate level throughout the state of Colorado, including the University of Denver, the University of Colorado, Metropolitan State University, Front Range Community College, and Regis University. He is also an instructor at The University of Michigan Sexual Health Certificate Program.

Dr. Cannon has served as an expert witness on matters related to sexuality, and has appeared on countless radio and television programs, including Playboy Radio. He appeared regularly on Fox 31’s Everyday Show for several years. 

Dr. Cannon has a diverse professional and educational background. He is an alumnus of the Harvard Business School, he holds a Doctorate degree in Human Sexuality, a Master’s degree in Public Health, Post-graduate certification in Marriage & Family Therapy and Post-graduate certification in Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual & Queer Family Systems.

He is a Certified Sex Therapist & Supervisor for the American Association of Sexuality Educators Counselors and Therapists (AASECT) and is a Clinical Fellow for the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT).
